Trustees Liability
The charities commission used to issue approval to individual charities to purchase insurance cover to protect the trustees of the charity. It now freely encourages all charities to have this important cover.
The officials of public and private bodies, charities, not for profit companies, associations, education establishments etc are subject to the same duty of care in the performance of their responsibilities as the directors of a trading company.
These responsibilities apply to both paid officials and volunteers acting as trustees, your personal liability is unlimited.
We have helped organizations arrange cover to protect their trustees and officials for claims and losses including:
- Duty to defend
- Libel and slander
- Professional advice
- Legal defence costs
More specific cover is available for trustees of pension funds.
